With my new train room completed and my existing layout moved in. It’s time to build an extension around the walls that joins the 2 together.

Layout added to the new room
Alison and I decided to put a wall down the centre of the workshop and turn the new room into a train room

A nice welding scene on a piece of clear acetate.

Wow what a difference adding paint and varnish makes to the harbour scene. It gives a more realistic appearance. I used techniques shown in a harbour video tutorial found in the link below. Lots of great videos here.

I have been working on creating a scene highlighting sugar cane. I have been happy with the model the sugar cane using paint brush bristles (stained green) and hand positioned and glued in rows. I used brown corduroy to detail the rows and give an even location to glue the bristles. The brown corduroy gives a nice look for the bare earth. I used static grass for the young sugar cane. All that remains is to the glue the sugar cane section in position and disguise the plywood edge. I have just added a colour picture of Tully Sugar Mill in full swing. This adds an extra level of detail to the effect and now I can see that I need to put some more detail into the foreground cane and ground.
